In a shocking development just a day ahead of Holi, a gas leak case has come to the fore in Jalandhar, Punjab. A gas leak was reported on Thursday at an ice factory located in a residential area of Anand Nagar under the jurisdiction of the Maqsundan Police Station in Jalandhar. As per the information received, the local residents have repeatedly raised concerns about the factory's operations in the area. Recently, people protested against the factory and appealed to the administration to close this factory.
The name of the factory in which the gas leak took place is Kuldeep Ice. Neeraj Jassal, the councilor of Ward 84 (Anand Nagar), confirmed that the factory's electricity connection had been cut off due to repeated complaints. He added that Kuldeep Ice, has caused significant health issues for the residents, with many suffering from health problems such as migraines. Furthermore, Councillor Jassal informed that the matter was reported to Nodal Officer Balbir Singh, and fire department personnel are currently working to control the gas leak.
Initial reports suggest that the gas that has been leaked is ammonia. On receiving the information of the incident, the fire department and police team reached the spot. The residents of the area said that yesterday, the officers had come to check the factory. After which today the gas was being extracted by the factory workers. During this, gas suddenly leaked.
