Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh, who is known for his controversial views on Khalistan and Sikh issues, is all set to launch a new regional political party in Punjab on January 14.

This announcement will be made during the ‘Maghi Da Mela,’ a significant religious and cultural event held on Maghi Parv at Sri Muktsar Sahib. Maghi Parv, a day of immense religious significance for Sikhs, draws thousands of devotees to Sri Muktsar Sahib each year.

This new party’s unveiling will take place at the “Panth Bachao, Punjab Bachao” rally. This rally is expected to draw a large gathering of supporters and devotees from all across the state.

Since Amritpal Singh is currently detained under the National Security Act (NSA) in Assam’s Dibrugarh jail, the announcement will be made by his father and close associates.

The new party aims to address pressing issues affecting Punjab and its Sikh community. The party will focus on protecting religious, cultural values, tackling unemployment, agricultural crises, environmental concerns and advocating for social reforms to curb alcohol consumption in the state.

Experts suggest that the launch of a new party, cantered on regional and grassroots issues, might provide voters with an alternative to traditional parties like the Akali Dal and Congress.

This announcement coincides with a turbulent period for the Akali Dal as it has faced internal divisions and declining public support. Observers believe that Amritpal Singh’s party may offer a fresh perspective to Punjab’s electorate.

Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, the party spokesperson, has confirmed the event will take place on the same day. Senior leaders will participate in the conference, which aims to reassert the party’s relevance and unity.

As political activities heat up in Punjab, January 14 is all set to become a defining day for the state’s political narrative with significant implications for upcoming elections.
