It has been 27 days and the Punjab Police is still trying to nab fugitive Pro Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh. Now, a new report has come to the fore when Rajasthan DGP Umesh Mishra confirmed that Amritpal Singh is hiding in Rajasthan and that his Police forces are very close to nabbing the Waris Punjab De Chief. As per reports, Rajasthan Police got the information that Amritpal has been hiding in a village in the Sangaria area in Hanumangarh district. On receiving this input, the Rajasthan Police started searching in Hanumangarh and four other districts adjacent to it – Sriganganagar, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Barmer. It is pertinent to mention here that a team of Punjab Police has also reached Rajasthan after inputs of Amritpal Singh's hideout came to the fore. Not much information has been divulged as of now, however, DGP Umesh Mishra during a briefing at the police headquarters said that 'we are close to success'.
It is pertinent to mention that Punjab Police has arrested two brothers who helped Amritpal Singh in Hoshiarpur. Both these brothers are residents of Rajpura Bhainiya. They have been identified as Hardeep Singh and Kuldeep Singh. These two brothers helped Amritpal Singh to get a place to stay. Apart from this, Amritpal Singh's close aide Preetpal Singh who helped him flee and dodge Punjab Police was also arrested from Hoshiarpur and was later sent to Assam in custody. Preetpal was arrested under NSA act.
'Amritpal Singh Wanted' Posters Pasted At Batala Railway Station
Notably, posters declaring radical preacher Amritpal Singh as a "wanted man" were pasted at the Batala railway station in Punjab's Gurdaspur district on Wednesday. In the posters pasted by the government railway police, it is mentioned that Amritpal, who has been on the run since March 18 following a police crackdown, is wanted in multiple cases by police. "Whosoever has any information about him (Amritpal) can share it on the mobile numbers given below. Appropriate reward will be given on providing the information," read the poster. The name of the informer will be kept confidential, it said. Police had last month launched a major crackdown against the Khalistan sympathiser and members of his outfit 'Waris Punjab De'.
Amritpal, who is yet to be nabbed, escaped the police net in Jalandhar district on March 18, switching vehicles and changing appearances.
