Waris Punjab de chief Amritpal Singh is still on the run while his aides are being captured left right and center. The latest addition to the list was Papalpreet Singh, the man whose selfie with Amritpal went viral on social media platforms. The latest update on Papalpreet, as of Tuesday, 11th April, is that he has been sent to the Dibrugarh jail in the north-eastern state of Assam. He will be imprisoned with his numerous comrades who are already being held there. Likely to be interrogated for the whereabouts of Amritpal Singh, Papalpreet could be another important piece in the pursuit of Amritpal who has managed to evade custody as of now.
While there are many prisons in Punjab and north India which could have housed Amritpal’s men, Dibrugarh is seen as the appropriate option as it cuts them off from their homebase. This adds a level of isolation that is considered to be a decided advantage for law enforcement. As of now, the interrogations have both delineated and confirmed many pieces of information for security agencies. The only sticking point being that Amritpal himself has not been captured. With rumors and false stories on the rise, security agencies are looking towards closing the case and putting an end to the speculations. With each arrest, the net around Amritpal seems to be tightening. He was recently seen asking for support from the masses in Punjab in a viral video, calling for a congregation of all Sikhs. The attempt was aimed at gathering popular support in his home state. How long this chase will last is something only time can tell.
