In a massive development, 'fugitive' Waris Punjab De Chief Amritpal Singh's wife Kirandeep Kaur on Thursday was stopped at the Amritsar Airport for questioning by immigration officials. At first, it was reported that Amritpal Singh's wife Kirandeep Kaur was detained at Shri Guru Ram Dass International Airport as she was trying to board a flight to London, however, later it was confirmed that she was not detained but stopped for questioning by the immigration officials. Amritpal's wife reached the airport to board a flight from Amritsar to Birmingham. Notably, a few months ago, Amritpal married Punjabi-origin Kirandeep Kaur living in the UK, since then both were living in Jallupur Kheda which is Amritpal's village. Amritpal Singh has been declared a fugitive and has been on run by the Punjab Police for many days. While the Punjab Police are trying hard to nab the pro-Khalistan leader, his aide Papalpreet Singh was recently arrested from Hoshiarpur, Punjab.
About Amritpal Singh's wife Kirandeep Kaur
According to reports, 29-year-old Amritpal Singh married UK-based NRI Kirandeep Kaur in February this year. The wedding took place at Amritpal Singh's ancestral village of Jallupur Khera in Amritsar. Amritpal Singh, after his wedding, said his wife will stay with him in Punjab as this marriage was a message for reverse migration and they want all Punjabi migrants to return to the state. Kirandeep's family is reportedly from Jalandhar.
Notably, Kirandeep in her previous interviews with The Week had stated that her husband Amritpal is innocent. She had further stated that the manhunt to nab her husband is being carried out in an illegal manner. Kaur further said that she was aware of the risks involved with his activities. Opening up on how the two started talking, Kirandeep Kaur said that she saw one of Amritpal’s posts on social media and messaged him. In the Instagram post, Amritpal was talking about saving Sikhism and propagating their language. Kaur said that at the time, she never knew that they would get married.
