Pro Khalistan leader & Waris Punjab De Chief, Amritpal Singh on Tuesday was declared the winner from Khadoor Sahib constituency in Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Amritpal Singh who is currently lodged in Dibrugarh jail over serious NSA charges defeated Congress candidate Kulbir Singh Zira by a margin of 1,97,120 votes. Amritpal Singh scripted history by becoming the candidate to win with the highest margin in Punjab.
As a result, Kirandeep Kaur, wife of Amritpal Singh, on Wednesday reached Dibrugarh jail in Assam. Kirandeep Kaur met her husband and elected MP Amritpal Singh. As per reports, Kirandeep Kaur has discussed the next strategy with Amritpal Singh. Kirandeep Kaur was accompanied by Amritpal Singh's lawyer Advocate Rajdev Singh Khalsa. Apart from Amritpal, the duo met all the imprisoned Sikhs.
Reports suggest that the family is trying to bring Amritpal Singh out as per the rules. Notably, Amritpal Singh is kept in Dibrugarh jail in Assam under the National Security Act (NSA). Before the elections, Amritpal Singh's family made several efforts to bring him to Punjab. In jail, Amritpal Singh went on a hunger strike along with his 9 companions. But when no solution was found, suddenly the family announced that Amritpal would contest the elections under the Indian Constitution.
Last year, Amritpal Singh married London-based Kirandeep Kaur. . The wedding took place at Amritpal Singh's ancestral village of Jallupur Khera in Amritsar. After his marriage, Amritpal Singh reportedly informed the media that his wife will stay with him in Punjab as this marriage was a message for reverse migration and they want all Punjabi migrants to return to the state.
Kirandeep Kaur in an interview with a magazine was quoted saying that it was her who approached Amritpal Singh on Instagram. "I messaged him regarding one of the projects he was doing. He was about to go live on Instagram to discuss the issue of raising our voice for Sikhism and saving our language. That was how we got in touch. But, at that point in time, I never knew that we were going to get married."
