Two gangsters were killed by the Punjab Police in Amritsar in an encounter on Wednesday. The encounter lasted for about 5 hours in Bhakna village, 10 km from the India-Pakistan border. The names of the gangsters who died are Jagroop Roopa and Manpreet Mannu.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said that we were chasing the accused of Sidhu Moosewala Murder for a few days. Our task force noticed some movement in this area. We killed two gangsters Jagroop Singh Roopa and Manpreet Singh.
The team has also recovered an AK-47 and a pistol from the scene. 3 policemen were also injured in this operation. In the quest to escape to Pakistan, the gangsters were hiding in the border village.
All of them were hiding in a house built on the farm in Bhakna village. The villagers told that no one lived there. Police teams were looking for them for 52 days.
Apart from Anti Gangster Task Force, Special Operation Cell, Organized Crime Control Unit, and Amritsar Police are present on the spot. Police's best shooter and quick reaction teams were also present during the encounter.
