The golden city of Amritsar has expanded its connectivity with new domestic and international routes. Under the present Punjab government, Shri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport (Amritsar) continues enhancing its air network, providing travelers with direct flights to major cities in India and worldwide. With 12 airlines operating flights to 24 destinations, the airport has transformed into an important hub for domestic and international travel.

International flight route connecting Amritsar

The city of Amritsar will now be directly connecting these international destinations, meeting both business and leisure travelers:

  • UK: direct flights to London Gatwick and Birmingham (Air India)  Air India is increasing its flights to London, Gatwick, and Birmingham from three to four flights per week, expected to start on March 30, 2025.
  • Itay: Flights to Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino -Amritsar is expected to have direct flights to Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino, although the specific airlines are yet to be announced officially.
  • Malaysia: Direct services to Kaula and Lumpur from Amritsar will be available with Malaysia Airlines among the carriers operating this route.
  • Thailand: Last year, the Air India Express made an official announcement of new flights connecting Amritsar to Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi). The flight is currently operational on this route. 
  • Qatar: Qatar Airways operates non-stop flights to Doha from Amritsar.
  • United Arab Emirates: Air India Express, Indigo, and SpiceJet are offering direct flights to Dubai and Sharjah from Amritsar.

Domestic flight connectivity from Amritsar

The city of Amritsar has direct connectivity to almost every corner of India, from the capital city of Delhi to the city of Kolkata in the west, from Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad in the south, to Jaipur in the east, and Kullu and other places in the north. 

  • Amritsar connects to Delhi with Air India, IndiGo, and Vistara operating multiple flights on this route every day. 
  • IndiGo and Air India operate regular flights from Amritsar to Mumbai.
  • IndiGo offers four weekly direct flights from Bengaluru to Amritsar.
  • IndiGo offers direct flights from Amritsar to Hyderabad.
  • IndiGo offers direct flights from Kolkata to Amritsar.
  • SpiceJet has started direct flights from Jaipur to Amritsar from March 2025.

Upcoming flight expansions 

Reportedly, more flights between the route to the UK and Amritsar will be added soon. From March 30, 2025, Air India will increase flights to London, Gatwick, and Birmingham from three to four flights per week. 

IndiGo is to launch new flights on the European routes connecting Manchester (UK) to India. 

With these expanded domestic and international routes, Amritsar is developing into a major global aviation hub, offering travelers better connectivity and convenience.
