Amritsar Police arrests two Tarn Taran drug smugglers; 1 injured in police retaliation

Two Tarn Taran based drug smugglers have been arrested by the Amritsar police, they caught the smugglers after an intense gunfight.

On Thursday, 24th October, the Amritsar police arrested two Tarn Taran based drug smugglers. In the early morning operation, police caught the smugglers after an intense gunfight near Tarn Taran Road.

The smugglers opened fire after spotting the police, in respond to which, the police officials backfired. One of the smugglers got shot in the thigh, while the other was caught with minor injuries. Both of the smugglers have been admitted to a hospital in Amritsar for their treatment.

This operation took place at around 3:30 am in a park located near the Tarn Taran Road. According to the police sources, these officers were tracking these smugglers from past three days, after receiving a tip-off that the smugglers were hiding near the park. Police had strategically planned the operation.

ACP Surinderbir Singh provided details of the operation and explained that the smugglers opened fire when they noticed police vehicles approaching near them. Police backfired in response. Bullets hit the police cars and they returned fire. One of the smugglers got shot in the leg, and the second was captured while attempting to escape.

Both The arrested smugglers are the residents of Tarn Taran. One of the smugglers is from Jhabal while the another is from the city of Tarn Taran. They are not only involved in drug trafficking but are also sharp shooters. They are known to carry out contract killings. Police has recovered two pistols from the smugglers during the arrest. Both the smugglers are currently receiving treatment at a private hospital.
