A young man from Ramdas village of Tehsil Ajnala in Amritsar, Punjab died on his way to America. The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Gurpreet Singh. He died near Guatemala while going to America.
Gurpreet Singh was the only brother of six sisters and was going to America through the donkey route to improve the financial condition of the family. According to information, Gurpreet Singh had left for America three months ago through an agent.
On the way, near Guatemala, he suffered a heart attack due to which he died on the spot. The young man travelling with Gurpreet informed his family about this tragic incident over the phone.
The family said that Gurpreet Singh had gone to England on a work permit six years ago, but had returned from there. This time he had dreamed of settling in US. After getting information about Gurpreet, the family is devastated.
Gurpreet's sisters and parents have appealed to the Indian government to help them bring their son's body to India so that they can perform Gurpreet's last rites with their own hands.
They have appealed to the government to bring back their brother's body so that they can bid him a final farewell. On receiving information about the incident, Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Dhaliwal also visited the family.
He said that a youth who had paid Rs 36 lakh in Ramdas Pind of Ajnala and was going to America via donkey route died on the way. He requested all Punjabis, to not go to any country illegally and if people have saved so much money by taking a loan, then they should start a business in Punjab, Mann government will help you completely.
