A centipede was discovered in an Amul ice cream ordered online by a Noida resident, Deepa Devi. The discovery has prompted an investigation by both the company and food safety officers.
Deepa Devi ordered Vanilla Magics ice cream from Amul worth Rs.195 through the online delivery service Blinket on June 15. Upon opening the ice cream, she was horrified to find a centipede inside. Devi immediately complained to Blinket, which promptly refunded her money. Blinket's customer care informed her that an Amul manager would contact her regarding the incident. The alarming discovery was also shared on the social media platform X, attracting significant public attention.
Amul responded to the incident by requesting the specific ice cream box from Devi for a thorough investigation. The company expressed its commitment to investigating the matter rigorously to ensure product safety and maintain consumer trust. "We take such matters very seriously and want to ensure a thorough investigation is conducted," an Amul spokesperson stated.
This incident follows a recent case in Mumbai where a customer found a piece of a human finger in an ice cream ordered online from YUMMO. The customer immediately reported the incident to the Malad police station. The police have registered a case against the YUMMO ice cream company and have taken the ice cream into custody for further investigation.
Food safety officers in Noida are currently examining the circumstances surrounding the presence of the centipede in the Amul ice cream. Authorities are keen to determine whether this was an isolated incident or indicative of broader food safety issues.
