Pakistan's former skipper Babar Azam recently lost his calm with fans after they continuously trolled him with 'ZimBabar' chants during a PSL match. Babar Azam was sitting on the sidelines when Pakistani fans started to chant 'ZimBabar'. ZimBabar is a derogatory term used by Pakistanis for the cricketer to outline the cricketer's dominating performance against small teams like Zimbabwe and his failure against big teams. Babar Azam captains Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL and he looked filled with rage after listening to ZimBabar chants.
In the viral Babar Azam ZimBabar video, many fans can be heard chanting the derogatory term. Listening to it, Babar Azam angrily gestures to the fan to come to him. When the fans continued to chant ZimBabar, Babar Azam then gestured to throw a bottle which he was carrying. However, Azam controlled his temper and then focused on the game.
Babar has played 18 matches against Zimbabwe in all formats of the game and has scored 693 runs at an average of 57.75. The chant Zimbabar originates from the belief that Babar needs a series against Zimbabwe to snap out of poor form and score some runs.
Coming to Babar Azam-led PSL team, Peshawar Zalmi, registered their first win of the season after two losses. That they did it against the table-toppers, Multan Sultans. Babar was once again was slow in his batting, scoring 31 runs in 26 balls. It needed quickfire knocks from Haseebullah Khan, who scored 37 runs in 18 balls, Rovman Powell, who blasted 23 in 11, and others to lift the side to 179.
