Chennai: Barely 20 days into their marriage, a woman set her husband on fire at T V Nagar in Tindivanam, about 125 km from Chennai, on Thursday night, unable to put up with his alcoholic behavior.
Reports received here said the victim Sethupathy (24) was working in a puncture shop when he had a relationship with Murugaveni before marrying her 20 days ago.
However, their married life was downhill as Sethupathy started suspecting her infidelity and he was also an alcoholic.
The couple lived in a thatched hut in T V Nagar.

Last night, when Sethupathy was sleeping, Murugaveni poured kerosene and set him on fire. She stepped out of the hut, bolted it from outside and the neighbors could not save him as the fire spread quickly.
Fire service personnel rushed to the spot and doused the blaze. However, by the time Sethupathy was charred to death on the spot.
His body was taken to Mundiyampakkam Medical College Hospital. When questioned about her absence in the house, Murugaveni confessed to have set him on fire.
Police arrested her and also took her Kumudam for an inquiry as she was also suspected to be involved in the crime.
