There has been a revolt against Capt. Amarinder Singh in Punjab. On Tuesday, four other ministers, including Congress state general secretary Pargat Singh, 28 MLAs met at the residence of senior minister of state Tripat Rajinder Bajwa and demanded the removal of the captain from the Chief Minister’s chair.
After the meeting, the four ministers and Pargat Singh went to meet PPCC President Navjot Singh Sidhu at congress Bhawan. As per sources, Pargat Singh, Tripat Rajinder Bajwa, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Sukh Sarkaria and Charanjit Singh Channi is going to held a talk with Harish Rawat in Dehradun tomorrow.
Confirming this, Rawat said that some Punjab leaders wanted to meet him and the party high command, so he had invited them to Dehradun. He will leave for Delhi after holding discussions with Harish Rawat in Dehradun. He will meet the Congress High Command. Time has also been sought from Sonia Gandhi for this. Among the ministers who rebelled against the captain were Tripat Rajinder Bajwa, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Sukh Sarkaria and Charanjit Singh Channi.
According to sources, the cause of this revolt is part of the long conspiracy which started in rival camp in the past and in their links in the high command. Things may go haywire if high command pays heed to the plea of revolted MLAs and Ministers.
As Harish Rawat has been instrumental in making Navjot Singh Sidhu the head of Punjab Congress. It remains to be seen what report Harish Rawat will give to the Congress High Command after meeting these leaders involved in the anti-Captain camp. It is also anticipated that the high command may send observer in Punjab to hear the plea of revolted MLAs and ministers.
The future of Captain Amarinder Singh’s chair in Punjab will depend to some extent on this report of Harish Rawat and anticipated observer. If the report goes against the captain it may create plethora of problems for the Captain in the forthcoming election.
