Ever since the drugs angle came in Sushant Singh Rajput's case, the mute Bollywood celebrities have become vocal. Recently, Anurag Kashyap indulged in a twitter war with Kangana Ranaut over the actress's "Ksatriya' remark. The film-maker had also shared WhatsApp screenshots of him and Sushant's manager and totally came in support of Rhea Chakraborty after her arrest.
Now, Anurag Kashyap has finally come out clean in an interview. Anurag in the interview responded on a hashtag that trended on his birthday. On Anurag's birthday, #happybirthdaycharsee trended. Anurag said he has invisible asthma which due to which is allergic to foreign smoke i.e. dry ice any kind of industrial smoke, paint including the smell of ash can give me severe asthma attack. It is just because i smoke cigarettes people think I am charsee.
Anurag said that in his career of 27 years he has never a single party in Bollywood. There was a phase in my life during early 2000 when my films were banned and after I was introduced to alcohol when in 2003 after Black Friday was banned. I went through a personal phase of drugs from 2006 to 2008 before I did Dev D. I did drugs out of depression, my films not releasing. I was more abusing chemical drugs, it was a massive thing of shame for me. My biggest fear was nobody finds out that I was doing drugs.
I started talking about my drug phase in 2014. But those two and half years I did that, the sense of shame associated with it, the way I hide it as I didn't want anyone to find it. I put all those experiences of mine in Dev D.
When people talk about drugs or drug addicts they don't do it at a party. There is never a drug party. I have never seen any addicts doing drugs at a party. Probably seen in strange Hollywood movies.
From university days I am seeing that people smoke weed, like growing up in UP in Banaras (Varanasi) you walk on the ghats and you have Sadhus and common people smoking weed normally.
The point Anurag was trying to make is drugs happen in every field, but the way Bollywood is getting defamed is not right. By uttering use of weed in common people he tried to shield Rhea Chakraborty yet again.
