Amritsar Rural Police have arrested an Indian Army soldier, Sandeep Singh, identified as a resident of Sardoolgarh. He was currently posted at Nasik Army Camp and was arrested from Patiala. He is alleged for leaking classified military information to Pakistani intelligence agencies. His arrest follows the earlier detention of multiple Army personnel involved in smuggling heroin from Pakistan into India. This was his second arrest made in the past three days. 

Earlier, the police arrested Amritpal Singh, a resident of Chamba Kalan village in Chohla Sahib in Tarn Taran. He was a part of the syndicate involved in spying and cross-border drug peddling. The police had also booked another Army jawan Rajbir Singh in the case. Police teams had been dispatched to arrest him.

Sandeep was arrested following the interrogation of Amritpal Singh. The police have seized three mobile phones which have been sent for forensic examination.

As per Punjab police officials, the accused shared vital information, such as army movements, ammunition details, location of different Army units with Pakistan-based ISI. The racket had been operating for the past two years.

Besides Amritpal, the police had arrested Mandeep Singh alias Maddy and Madhav Sharma of Rajasthan.

The police had recovered 500gm heroin along with Rs 10 lakh drug money, a cash counting machine apart from a .30 bore pistol from their possession. It had also impounded the car they were traveling in.

Details of the Arrest:

Sandeep Singh, an Army personnel currently posted in Nashik, was on leave when arrested. He was allegedly sharing classified information about different Army units and brigades with Pakistani intelligence agencies.

Police recovered three mobile phones from him, which are now undergoing forensic examination. The investigation is expected to reveal major insights into the espionage network.

An FIR has been registered at Gharinda Police Station, and further inquiries are underway. Police are actively searching for another suspect linked to the case and expect to arrest him soon.
