One armyman has died and 5 others are trapped after an avalanche hit the Namgya region of Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. The avalanche had occured at around 11 am this morning. Six jawans got trapped in the avalanche, out of which one jawan was rescued who died on the way to the hospital.
The avalanche had hit the army patrol deployed in the Shipki La Sector along the Indo China border at the when they were moving between two posts. The incident has occured at the Dogri Nala area which has reportedly been never hit by an avalanche before.
Extensive search and rescue operation by the Indo-Tibetan Police force is still underway. District Police is helping with the rescue operations as well.
