The People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration on Sunday finalized its seat-sharing formula for the second phase of the District Development Council polls, allocating eight seats each out of total 27 to the National Conference and the PDP.
Gupkar Declaration was passed on the evening of 4th August 2019, a day before the abrogation of Special Status of Jammu and Kashmir to defend the Special Status.
Those who attended Gupkar Declaration 2.0 meet included Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, Sajad Gani Lone, Hasnain Masoodi, Ali Muhammad Sagar, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami, Muzaffar Shah, Javaid Mustafa Mir, and others.
Farooq Abdullah said, "Our battle is a constitutional battle, we want the government of India to return to the rights they had before August 5, 2019."
A few days after, Mehbooba Mufti refused to accept the tricolor as the national flag and said she will never accept that.
Now the Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration is all set to contest District Development Council polls. The Congress party on Friday joined the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) ahead of the District Development Council (DDC) elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Now, controversial journalist and Republic TV Editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami has slammed the Gupkar Declaration. In his famous show 'Puchta hai Bharat' Arnab called Gupkar as 'traitors'. Addressing the show he said, "I want to ask the people of India that one who eats of India and favors Pakistan. One who does not accept the Tricolour as their own flag and disrespects the Indian flag. Do they deserve permission to contest the elections?"
"Such traitors not only should be barred from contesting the elections but also should not be allowed to live in India. But these Gupkar traitors whom I call anti-India gang are using the DDC polls as a decoy just disturb the peace of the valley. How can they fight elections in India? They eat of Pakistan and praise them. And they say to China that they can take Ladakh," added Arnab.
