The police authorities in Una detained three young individuals from Jalandhar, Punjab, over suspicions of writing pro-Khalistan slogans on the shutters and walls of two shops situated along the Chintpurni-Talwara bypass in Una district, Himachal Pradesh. These arrests were made as a collaborative effort involving the Dehra and Chintpurni police stations.
The accused were identified as Phool Chand (26), Arjinder Singh (28), and Harry (21), residents of villages Dhesiya and Surja in the Gaurayan police station of Jalandhar district, were taken into custody by the local authorities. They had reportedly inscribed slogans like “Khalistan Zindabad” and “Himachal Banega Khalistan” on the shutters and walls of two shops in the area, according to the police reports.
The local authorities discovered the incident and initiated a swift investigation. With the help of CCTV footage, the police identified the three miscreants and brought them to the Chintpurni police station for further interrogation.
Rohini Thakur, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Chintpurni police station, verified the arrests and mentioned that the miscreants had also checked into a local hotel after the incident. The police are currently investigating the reasons behind the slogans and whether the accused have any ties to radical groups advocating for Khalistan. The Himachal police have requested the criminal records of the three individuals arrested by Jalandhar police.
Superintendent of Police Una, Arjit Sen Thakur, emphasized that the police are thoroughly investigating and are committed to discovering any possible links or motivations behind the incident.
