A political advocacy group created by the man who helped Prime Minister Narendra Modi win power in 2014 will now help Delhi's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) try and repeat its success in the previous assembly election.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Twitter that the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), the brainchild of election strategist Prashant Kishor, would help his party in its bid to retain power in what's expected to be a tough contest with the BJP next year.

Prashant Kishor is now the national vice-president of Bihar's Janata Dal (United) Party, a key ally of the BJP's.

The I-PAC has worked on a number of successful campaigns since 2014, including the one that brought the JD(U) and its leader, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, to power in the 2015 state election.

Nitish was part of an opposition alliance then; he later rejoined the NDA. Kishor's I-PAC recently helped Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy sweep both state and general elections.

In recent days, Prashant Kishor has been in the news for his outspoken criticism of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, which his party supported in Parliament. Kishor is meeting Nitish Kumar later this evening.
