BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover told ET in an exclusive interview that the company's board decided to act because the audio recording dispute had become "disproportionately big" in the media, prompting him to go on leave until the end of March.
When asked is he afraid of being fired. He says, "I'm a builder who enjoys putting my efforts into constructing something. Anything that happens in the future, I believe, will be driven only by two factors: whether I have the flexibility to develop it and whether it is large enough to consider building. I don't have that much clarity, and no one can offer you that much clarity about the future. Wherever there is value creation, I will be.
I have no fear of anything, and I know how to generate value, so I won't waste my time in politics or when value preservation is the only goal. Whatever happens, no one can take away the fact that I built BharatPe from the ground up in record time. I'm as happy as a shareholder or a founder if I don't have the same levels of freedom.
He also remarked," No one in any of my past organizations said anything even somewhat negative about me. I'm willing to take part in anything as long as it's fair and follows Indian rules. I will not be able to participate in anything arbitrary or if somebody wants to go overboard. In terms of my wealth, I'm very transparent—and it's open book.
