Ashneer Grover was subjected to criticism and social media trolling after Bigg Boss 18 host Salman Khan confronted him over a viral video in which the investor had revealed the actor's fees i.e. signing amount for a brand.
Ashneer Grover took to his X handle and backed his claim that he did not reveal misinformed numbers on Salman Khan's fees. Furthermore, the former Shark Tank India judge took a dig at Bigg Boss 18 makers saying that he hopes 'that particular show got great TRP / viewership'. Ashneer also praised Salman as a great host of Bigg Boss and is a person who is aware what works on the controversial reality show. Below is what Ashneer wrote-

"I hope you enjoyed the Bigg Boss weekend ka vaar ! I had good fun. And I am sure the particular episode got great TRP / viewership. BTW all of statements below are TRUE:
- Salman is a great host & actor
- Salman knows what works on Bigg Boss
- I’ve always praised Salman for his sense of self and business - not a single thing demeaning said for him ever
- My deal numbers are always correct (bank / auditor verified)
- Met Salman in an exclusive meeting on the brand collab for 3 hours in May 2019 in JW Marriott Juhu - along with the director of ad (it’s ok if he doesn’t remember me - I was not a public figure then - he meets tons of people)
- The invite for coming as guest on Bigg Boss was not ‘unnamed’ - just like the cheque for the same ;)

What happened on the sets of Bigg Boss 18?
A video went viral on social media from the sets of Bigg Boss 18. In the viral video, Salman Khan confronted Ashneer and said, "Maine aapko mere baare mein kehte huye suna hai kuch. Aapne kaha ki, 'Humne toh isko itne mein sign kardiya'. Uska figure bhi aapne galat de diya. Toh phir yeh dogalapan kya hai (I heard you talking about me. You said, 'We have signed him for this much'. You also gave the wrong figures. So what is this double standard)?"
In response, Ashneer who is known for not backing down seemed a bit taken aback. The entrepreneur said, "Aapko jo humne brand ambassador dia (The decision to make you brand ambassador), I think that was one of the smartest moves I made." Salman added, "Lekin jis hisaab se ab aap baat kar ahe hani, woh jo maine aapka video dekha hai, yeh aapka attitude wahan par nahi tha (The way you are talking now, the video of yours that I saw earlier, this attitude wasn’t apparent back then)."
The controversy is linked to a viral video when Ashneer visited Lovely Professional University and recalled how he signed Salman Khan. He said, “Ab mai choti company tha. Mere ko overnight trust generate karna tha. To mere yeh lga ki mai Salman Khan ko brand ambassador leta hu. Ab Salman ki team ko approach kra, vo bol rahe hai saadhe saat crore rupaye lagenge. To mai calculation kar raha hu Rs 100 crore pade hai – saade saath isko dunga, ek-do crore ki ad banegi, for chalani bhi to hai TV pe."
