The Election Commission of India's (ECI) early trends suggest a big win for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 'Hindi-heartland' i.e. Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. In Telangana, Congress is leading, while the Bharat Rashtra Samithi - BHRS is trailing behind. In Chhattisgarh, the BJP is in the lead at 36 seats while the ruling Congress is at 31 seats. In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP is leading on 148 seats, while Congress is leading at 60 seats. In Rajasthan, the BJP has touched the 100 mark, while the ruling Congress is at 78 seats. In Telangana, Congress seems to be coming into power as the INC is leading at 53 seats, while BHRS is at 30 seats.
For the unversed, Madhya Pradesh has 230 seats and to win the state election at least 116 seats are required. In Rajasthan, a party needs to win 100 seats out of 199. In Chhattisgarh, a party needs to secure 46 seats out of 90 seats. Finally in Telangana, a party needs to win at least 60 seats out of 119.
