According to a report, British national pharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca which is developing a vaccine against the novel coronavirus disease has seen a potent immune response in the elderly people.
Referring to two unidentified people who are acquainted with the finding, have said that the AstraZeneca vaccine has produced protective antibodies and T-cells in a group of people who belong to old age.
AstraZeneca has collaborated with the University of Oxford for producing the COVID-19 vaccine.
Findings on immunogenicity blood tests, which were carried on a subset of older participants, echo data released in July displayed positive results. The vaccine was found to generate ‘robust immune responses’ in healthy adults between the age group of 18-55.
AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Moderna, are among the leading companies who are working back and forth to produce Covid-19 vaccine across the globe as the pressure increases with the rise in the spread of the infection.
AstraZeneca was given a clearance by US regulators to resume its clinical trials in the country after trials were paused for over a month amid reports of a vaccine participant falling sick.
As per the statements issued from AstraZeneca and Oxford University, the US Food and Drug Administration authorised the trial to restart their vaccine trials on Friday.

At the same time coronavirus cases are approaching the 43 million-mark, globally, according to information provided by Johns Hopkins University’s tracker.
The total confirmed covid-19 cases currently stand at 4,2923,311 out of which 1,152,978 people have died due to the infection.
