With 28,204 new cases of Coronavirus, India records the lowest cases in 147 days and 373 deaths in the last 24 hours. A total of 41,511 patients were discharged, taking the total recovery tally to 3,11,80,968, showed the health ministry data. The country has 3,88,508 active cases at present.
The total death toll in the country stands at 4,28,682. The recovery rate stands at 97.4%. As many as 51,45,00,268 people are vaccinated in the country. As of Monday, 9 August, a total of 48,32,78,545 samples for covid have been tested in the country, and of which 15,11,313 samples were tested on Monday alone.
Maximum Coronavirus cases registered in the top five states are - Kerala with 13,049 cases, which is followed by Maharashtra with 4,505 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,929 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 1,413 cases and Karnataka with 1,186 cases.
About 78.3% of Covid cases are being recorded in these five states, with Kerala alone accounting for 46.27 per cent of the new cases of the virus.
Meanwhile, Kerala has also reported maximum casualties due to Covid which stands at 105, followed by Maharashtra with 68 deaths every day.

Rajasthan has reported 13 Coronavirus cases, Gujarat - 19, Madhya Pradesh - 10, Bihar - 43, all these four huge states have reported no casualties due to the virus.
States like Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand too reported zero deaths. One of the most populated states - Uttar Pradesh has logged 21 new Covid cases on a single day and recorded one fatality.
After recording 1,120 fresh Covid cases, Assam is leading the northeastern states with the most number of cases reported in a single day, followed by Mizoram (937), Manipur (467), Arunachal Pradesh (302).
In the last three weeks, rural vaccination has seen a high jump by administering a total of 9.87 crore doses in the past three weeks, 6.22 crore doses were conducted in rural parts, which is 63 per cent of the total doses. The daily average vaccination in rural areas has risen to 29.66 lakhs now.

Covid-19 tally in the country passed the 20 lakh mark on August 7, while it crossed 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. Cases soared over 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, while it passed the mark of 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20. Coronavirus tally exceeded the one-crore mark on December 19.
India recorded a soaring mark of 2 crores on May 4 and three crores on June 23.
