In a massive development, Punjab Police on Tuesday arrested the attacker who hurled a grenade at former Punjab Minister Manoranjan Kalia's house in Jalandhar. As per the information received, within 12 hours, Punjab Police solved the grenade attack case that took place at the residence of former minister and senior BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia. As per Police sources, the prime accused who hurled the grenade has been arrested, and the e-rickshaw used during the attack has also been recovered.
According to police inputs, the mastermind behind the grenade attack in Jalandhar was Zeeshan Akhtar, a close associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Police believe that the attack was part of a larger ISI-backed plot to disrupt communal harmony in Punjab. Zeeshan Akhtar is also wanted in the high-profile Baba Siddique murder case.
Investigations are underway to examine links with Pakistani-based Khalistani terrorist Harvinder Singh alias Rinda and gangster Happy Passia, who may have had a role in the cross-border planned attack.
It is pertinent to mention here that Jalandhar West MLA from AAP and Cabinet Minister in the Punjab Government, Mohinder Bhagat on Tuesday visited former Minister Manoranjan Kalia's home. Addressing the media, after visiting Kalia to inquire about his well-being, Mohinder Bhagat said, "We just met Manoranjan Kalia ji and had a detailed conversation in a positive atmosphere. The police are doing their job and the investigation is underway."
MLA Bhagat dropped a bombshell revelation when he said, "The truth is that such incidents in Punjab are being orchestrated by Lawrence Bishnoi in collusion with Pakistan."
Bhagat further alleged that Lawrence Bishnoi, the jailed gangster, continues to operate despite being in custody. "It’s no secret that Lawrence Bishnoi has strong connections with Pakistani elements. Despite being lodged in Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Jail, he is being provided full security by the Central BJP government," Bhagat claimed.
