Three individuals were killed in violent collision between an e-rickshaw and an Audi car at around 1:30 pm on Tuesday night in Jalandhar. The incident occured near Vidhipur gate under Maqsuda police station of Jalandhar. While 3 died on the spot, 2 were undergoing treatment in the civil hospital. After which, by 3:00 pm on Wednesday, a fourth was also confirmed dead during treatment. After the death of four persons, the family members of the deceased staged a protest by sitting on the road and blocking the traffic outside Maqsudan police station.
The 3 who died on the spot have been identified as Paramjit Singh, son of Sohan Singh, Pankaj and Jagdish Chandar, all residents of Jalandhar. The 4 who died during treatment is not yet identified. The Audi had a numbered registered in Chandigarh, hence the police suspect the fled accused of being a resident of Chandigarh as well.
Vishal from Bhim Yuva Morcha told that the SHO of Maqsudan police station has registered an FIR under article 304 of the IPC against unknown persons and started investigation. But he is not satisfied with their investigation, because the owner of the vehicle has not been traced yet through the vehicle’s number. The family members of the deceased staged a protest outside the police station demanding immediate action. They demand that the accused should be arrested and punished as soon as possible.
In this case, SHO of Maqsudan police station Sikandar Singh Virk said that he has registered an FIR in the preliminary investigation. Divulging further details, he also informed that 3 people were killed on the spot and 2 were sent to the hospital for treatment. The accused is currently absconding but a team has been sent to Chandigarh to investigate and catch the culprit.
