There is a theory in fiction books that on the day of the apocalypse people around the world will witness fire raining down. However, Australia has witnessed a totally strange and bizarre incident when fish rain was reported in the town of Lajamanu, a small community in the arid Northern Territory, around 560 miles south of Darwin. The Australian fish rain has shocked the entire world and many are saying on social media that the news is fake. However, there are certain among of social media users linked to the place are sharing photos and videos of Australia fish rain and saying that it indeed happened. According to New York Post, the scaly phenomenon occurred during a heavy rainstorm in the town of Lajamanu.
US media quoted locals who actually witnessed it and said, "We've seen a big storm heading up to my community and we thought it was just rain," Lajamanu local and Central Desert councillor Andrew Johnson Japanangka. Japanangka said the fishes were still alive as they fell from the sky, and children in the town rushed to collect them and keep them in jars. He further said that despite witnessing deluges of fishes in the past, the phenomenon never fails to amaze him. ''I think it's a blessing from the Lord,'' he added. It is pertinent ot mention here that it is not the first time Lajamanu has witnessed fish rain. In fact, reports suggest that the same phenomenon was witnessed in Lajamanu in 2010, and it was previously recorded in 2004 and 1974. Interestingly, Japanangka dubbed the weird phenomenon as a “blessing from the Lord”.

What is the reason behind Australia Fish Rain?
Queensland Museum fish expert Jeff Johnson was quoted saying that the fish which fell were known as spangled perch, or spangled grunters — among the most common freshwater fish in Australia. And even though this occurrence sounds absurd and strange, it’s not the first time it has happened. Now, the question arises how fish rain is witnessed? The answer is fish do not really ‘rain’ in the sense of condensing out of water vapour. The fish that fall from the sky are just fish that used to be in the sea. Didn't understand?
To be precise, the best explanation for the Australian fish rain is that strong air disturbances, such as tornadoes, lift water and fish up into the air. When tornadoes traverse over bodies of water, they become known as waterspouts. These suck up water from any water body they are over along with the fish or creatures swimming in the water. The tornado then carries the fish for some distance. As it becomes weaker, the tornado loses its energy to hold objects and the fish begin to rain down on the ground.

As per FirstPost, Professor Ernest Agee from Purdue University in America’s Indiana has said to Library of Congress, “I’ve seen small ponds literally emptied of their water by a passing tornado. So, it wouldn’t be unreasonable for frogs (or other living things such as fish) to ‘rain’ from the skies.”
