Australia's World Cup 2023 winning captain Pat Cummins on Tuesday became the most expensive player of IPL history. On Tuesday, all the franchises came under the same roof in Dubai and bid for the players they want in their team. During the event, Pat Cummins made a major world record after he was sold to the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Pat Cummins broke the record of Sam Curran who was the most expensive player in IPL history.
In an intense bidding battle between CSK, RCB, and SRH, it was Sunrisers that sealed the deal at a whopping INR 20 crore 50 lakh. Before Cummins, the record was held by Sam Curran. Sam Curran was bought at Rs 18.50 crore in the last auction.
It is pertinent to mention here that Kolkata Knight Riders went all out to secure the services of Australia all-rounder Pat Cummins in the 2020 auction. KKR paid Rs 15.50 crore for him, fending off interest from Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Now, Pat Cummins will play for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024.
