In Ludhiana, Punjab, the rural police of Jalandhar has solved a triple murder case. The police have arrested the culprit from the village of Gadh. He had committed the murder by inserting a rod into the mouths of an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), his wife, and their son. After the incident, he sat near the bodies and consumed chitta, a drug.
The accused has been identified as Prem Chand, also known as Mithun, a resident of Akhna village in Gurdaspur. He is addicted to drugs and has previously committed murder to procure drugs. He also has theft cases registered against him.
SHO Harjinder Singh informed that there are two cases registered against the accused at Fillaur police station. Two theft cases were also registered, and stolen bikes were recovered from him. So far, he has been involved in eight cases, including four in Dina Nagar, two in Ladhowal, and two in Fillaur. Mithun’s wife has left him.
The accused had committed another murder on May 18, two days before the triple murder. He had killed an elderly woman in Dinanagar, looted gold and cash from her house, and then threw her body into a drain.

On May 20, the accused entered the residence of retired ASI Kuldeep Singh through the gate of his house in Noorpur Bhet. When the gate opened, the retired ASI went outside, and the accused hid under the staircase.
As soon as Kuldeep started going towards his room, the accused repeatedly hit him on the head with an iron rod and then inserted it into his mouth. Immediately after that, he brutally attacked Kuldeep’s son Gurvinder and wife Parmjeet Kaur with the rod. He had stolen a revolver, jewelry, and a bike from the house.

After the murder, the suspect reached Talwandi. After committing the crime, the accused Mithun went to a house in Talwandi, a short distance from Ladhowal police station, to buy drugs. He frequently visits the house of a person named Ravinder Singh to buy drugs. At that house, the suspect snatched around 20 grams of heroin from a woman and fired shots in the air before fleeing.
Stopped at his sister’s place: After the theft, the accused fled on the stolen bike. In an intoxicated state, he went to his sister’s place in Gadh village and stayed there.
The next day, he entered the house of a woman named Baljeet Kaur near his sister’s house. When the woman woke up, he attacked her with a wooden stick. In response, Baljeet Kaur raised an alarm and called her friend. The suspect attacked both women and escaped.
Arrived in Delhi from Ludhiana: After assaulting the women, he left for Delhi from the Ludhiana railway station. He stayed in Delhi for some time. The police are also investigating his presence and activities in Delhi. Mithun has also committed a train robbery. A broken mobile phone has been recovered from the accused, which will be sent to the forensic department by the police.
Firing on a dog in Talwandi: After returning from Delhi, Mithun stole a bike from a young man near his house. The accused reached Talwandi around 3 am to buy drugs. Upon hearing a dog barking, the suspect fired two shots at it. When the owner of the house objected, the accused assaulted him. He then hastily left the scene, leaving the stolen motorcycle behind.
Caught while attempting theft: Afterward, the suspect left Talwandi and stole a bike from the toll plaza.
