The rising cases of COVID in China have again stood as a major threat in front of the world, pushing the government in India on alert mode.
Associated with the cases pertaining to COVID the union Health minister chaired a meeting with the senior officials of the ministry as well as other bureaucrats linked with the matter.
Upon the completion of the meeting, Mandaviya said the COVID is not over yet and India is all set to fight against any major outbreak in the coming days, issuing guidelines to all the concerned authorities to amp up the vigil.
After the meeting, Dr. VK Paul of NITI Aayog recommended people wear masks in crowded places. This is very important for people suffering from serious diseases and for the elderly. Right now only 27% of the population has taken the booster dose, whereas taking this dose is compulsory for all.
Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has written a letter to all the states and union territories on Tuesday. It has been said in the letter that samples of all positive cases of corona should be sent for genome sequencing so that the variant of corona can be detected. These days the cases of corona are increasing rapidly in China, Japan, America, Korea, and Brazil.
Where corona cases have increased worldwide, the number of active cases in India is decreasing rapidly. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, as of 8 am on December 20, there were a total of 3 thousand 490 active cases in the country, which is the lowest since March 2020.
The Health Minister had told Parliament on December 19 that the number of vaccinations in India has crossed 220 crores. This number is including the first, second, and precautionary doses of all available corona vaccines.
The world's largest vaccination campaign was started on 18 January 2021 in the country. However, in view of the increased corona cases in China, TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh has demanded to stop international flights.

Adar Poonawala, CEO of Pune's Serum Institute, has said that the increase in corona cases in China is worrying. Although India need not fear, because the coverage of vaccination in the country is good.
Dr. Abhijeet Sharma of Guwahati Medical College Hospital said that corona can be avoided only by vaccination, wearing masks, and following social distancing. RNA vaccines are more effective.
Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that his government will coordinate with the Center and take all decisions and form a special task force for Corona.
The Uttar Pradesh government has given instructions to investigate the passengers coming from Corona-affected countries. Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said that vigil will be increased at the airport.
As far as the matter associated with India is concerned there is nothing much to fear thanks to the 3 rounds of vaccination that have been done, although there is no reason of being complacent and one must adhere to every single guideline being issued by the government.
