After receiving positive reviews and praise from fans, Bagman was released on Amazon Prime Video in India on February 2, 2025. Slowly & steadily, Bagman on Amazon Prime Video has come up in the top 10 most-watched movies of the week. Directed by Colm McCarthy and written by John Hulme, Bagman is a horror thriller that revolves around Patrick McKee played by actor Sam Claflin who has been haunted by a folk ghost named Bagman since his childhood. While Patrick is convinced that Bagman is real, a psychiatrist named Barbara reveals that he is suffering from Persistent Phobia. Below is all about Persistent Phobia that Patrick suffered in Amazon Prime Video-

What is Persistent Phobia?

As per the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, as the name suggests  Persistent Phobia is fear that is excessive or unreasonable, that occurs by the presence or anticipation of a specific object or situation (e.g., flying, heights, animals, receiving an injection, seeing blood). In the movie Bagman, Patrick suffered from Persistent Phobia feeling that Bagman is always knocking on his window and trying to kidnap him in his 'bag'.

For Indians who cannot understand, they must have heard the folk tales of 'Jhola Wala Bhoot' or when grandmother or mother used to frighten their children from taking the name of a 'Jhole Wale Baba' that may take him/her if he/she does not eat or sleep. Bagman is somewhat similar to that Indian folktale.

However, in Bagman, Patrick's fear was reality and not any phobias. It was established when Patrick and his wife Karin kept their son Jackie at Aunt Anna's apartment. Bagman attacks Anna and cuts a few hairs from Jackie's head so that after Patrick it can haunt his son and ultimately feel his fear. (Spoilers Ahead)

Patrick was lured back into the cave by the Bagman. Patrick ran back to the cave thinking that the Bagman had kidnapped his son. However, later he discovers that Bagman has actually tricked him and it was him whom he always wanted. In the end, Bagman successfully kills and stuffs Patrick in his bag. However, Patric successfully throws a wooden flute that he carved for his son Jackie so that it can save his son in the future.

Notably, a child's process possession is the ultimate weapon against Bagman. Patrick had a small knife that he always carried with himself. However, one day he broke his knife and then the haunting of Bagman started again.
