The much-awaited Bandish Bandits Season 2 will be released on Amazon Prime Video on December 13, 2024. After a span of 4 years, Bandish Bandits is coming back with its second season as its prequel received massive praise from critics as well as fans on social media. Bandish Bandits is a musical drama that brought the untold story of India's rich and ancient 'Gharanas Culture'. While season 1 witnessed Naseeruddin Shah essaying the role of 'Sangeet Samrat' Radhemohan Rathod, the veteran actor will not be returning in Bandish Bandits S2.

Since the series closely follows the musical Gharanas culture of India, it is obvious that die-hard fans will dig deep into Bandish Bandits Season 2 Real Story or Bandish Bandits Season 1 True Story. Furthermore, the mention of Rathod Gharana in Bandish Bandits can also amp up excitement among fans to dig deep into it.

Directed by Anand Tiwari, Bandish Bandits Season 2 features Ritwik Bhowmik as Radhe Rathod, Shreya Chaudhary as Tamanna Sharma, Atul Kulkarni as Digvijay Rathod (Radhe's step-uncle), Sheeba Chaddha as Mohini Rathod, Radhe's mother, Rajesh Tailang as Rajendra Rathod (Radhe's father) and more in the leading roles.

Is the Rathod Gharana mentioned in Bandish Bandits Season 2 real?

The answer is yes and no at the same time. While Bandish Bandits Season 2 is a fictional story, the mention of musical gharanas of India is true. Bandish Bandits Season 2 showcased the Rathod Gharana of Rajasthan, however, True Scoop could not find anything about Rathod Gharana in Rajasthan.

Still, there is a real-life Rathod Gharana in the Indian Music culture. For the unversed, a gharana is a system of social organisation in the Indian subcontinent, linking musicians or dancers by lineage or apprenticeship, and more importantly by adherence to a particular musical style.

Talking about the Rathod Gharana, one of the prominent names liked to it is singer Roopkumar Rathod. Roopkumar Rathod has sung multiple songs in many languages. 'Tujhmein Rab Dikhta Hai' from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is among his prominent songs.

As per the information available, Rathod is the second son of the late Pandit Chaturbhuj Rathod. Pandit Rathod was a proponent of the oldest major vocal style associated with Hindustani classical music, Dhrupad. He belonged to the "Aditya Gharana of Jamnagar."

It is pertinent to mention here that True Scoop does not intend to point out that Radhe's character is based on Roopkumar Rathod's life. Also, it does not intend to say that the Rathod Gharana showcased in Bandish Bandits Season 2 is same as Roopkumar Rathod's.
