Legendary singer Bappi Lahiri passed away late Tuesday night at the age of 69.

Legendary singer Bappi Lahiri passed away late Tuesday night at the age of 69. This news came as a shock after the death of renowned singer Lata Mangeshkar. He breathed his last in the Criticare Hospital where he was admitted for certain post-Covid issues.

Alokesh Lahiri popularly known as Bappi Lahiri popularised the use of synthesized disco music in Indian cinema and sang some of his own compositions. Apart from his popular disco-electronic music, Bappi Lahiri was also known for his signature look of his sartorial style that consists of gold chains, golden embellishments, velvety cardigans and sunglasses.

Did you know in 1986, Bappi Lahiri entered the Guinness Book of World Records?

Bappi Lahiri composed 12 super-hit silver jubilee movies from 1983 to 1985.  In 1986, he entered the Guinness Book of World Records for recording over 180 songs for 33 movies. Bappi Lahiri's hit song Jimmy Jimmy Aaja Aaja featured in the Hollywood movie ‘YouDon’t Mess with the Zohan’ starring Adam Sandler. Bappi Da is the only music director who was invited by Micheal Jackson to attend his first-ever live show in Mumbai.  The first Hindi film for which he composed music was Nanha Shikari (1973).
