The All India Trinamool Congress leader Sushmita Dev along with many workers were allegedly attacked on Friday by the members of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura. TMC MP Dev has kicked off the party's election campaign in Tripura for the 2023 assembly elections.
Sushmita Dev was allegedly attacked by BJP members while campaigning in a car for the 'Tripurar Jonno Trinamool' drive. She has sustained physical injuries after which she was
taken to the Amtuli Police Station in the West Tripura district to file a police complaint.
The Trinamool Congress said in a statement that the attack also vandalised the party's cars that were being used for the Tripura campaign.
Besides Dev, BJP workers attacked some I-PAC employees who were working on the TMC's Tripura campaign and took their phones, according to the party.
The party's Tripura section took to Twitter to share videos of the attacks and warned that the people of Tripura would respond "appropriately" to the "barbaric"
attack.

Two to three unidentified individuals can be seen thrashing a man near the party's vehicle in a video posted by AITC Tripura.
“People of #Tripura will give a befitting response to this BARBARIC ATTACK! Police must immediately stop acting as mere spectators. This collapse of law and order is unacceptable.
WE DEMAND JUSTICE! #ShameOnBJP,” tweeted the party.
Further condemning the assault of its leaders and workers, TMC asked, “Once again, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb has shown that he cannot tolerate AITC's presence in the state. When will the attacks on opposition leaders end?"
Trinamool Congress leaders have been visiting Tripura in recent months, with the party hoping to gain traction in the state ahead of the 2023 assembly election.
Sushmita Dev, the Trinamool Congress's recently elected Rajya Sabha MP, has been delegated to look after the party's operations in Tripura.
