In an attempt to stop alleged public obscenity, two Punjab Police women constables started thrashing young boys and girls sitting inside a part in Batala. Batala women constable video is doing rounds on social media with netizens fuming about the two cops who resorted to physical assault of the young boys and girls sitting inside the park. Reportedly, boys and girls who were sitting inside the park after their IELTS classes were first questioned and then physically assaulted by the two women police constables. After the Batala Park video went viral on social media, Punjab Police higher authorities came into action and transferred the two women constables who were caught on tape.
In the Batala park viral video, it can be seen a woman constable slapping a girl inside the park. The woman constable then pulls the girl who was trying to leave the place. Then the two women constables can be seen scolding the girl and also asking for their parents' phone numbers. In another section, the two women constables can be seen scolding other girls present inside the park and even snatched the phone from a girl and asked her to call whomsoever she wants to. In a noisy sound, it can also be heard faintly that the girls were telling the constables that they were celebrating a birthday, however, the constables kept on scolding them publically and also asked them for the number of her father.
In another video, the Batala women police constable said that on the direction of SSP we were given duty to oversee school, coaching areas and parks around it. The constables stated that they were told that the students tell their parents that they are going to study, but instead head to parks and gardens. Furthermore, the constables also stated that they were getting complaints from the people of some activities and therefore they had first told the youths to stop doing it. However, the young boys and girls did not pay attention.
Notably, after the video went viral on social media and netizens started to slam the Punjab Police, the two women constables were transferred. Not only this, a departmental inquiry was also initiated into the entire matter.
