Bathinda Entrepreneur Sahil Vohra and his company The Naturik Co

Sahil Vohra and Isha Chadha Vohra, Co-Founders of The Naturik Co recently appeared at Shark Tank India Season 4. Sahil informed the Sharks that he hails from Bathinda and has been brought up in Punjab till his matriculation. Sahil Vohra and Isha Chadha Vohra came with an ask of Rs 50 lakh in exchange of 2 percent equity but in the end, they got Rs 4 crore at 22.22 percent equity in an 'all shark deal'.

For those who are unaware, all shark deal happens when all the investors come together to invest in an entrepreneur's company. It is rare at the show, especially in Shark Tank India Season 4. Below is how the pitch went-

The Naturik Co's Co-Founders- Sahil Vohra and Isha Chadha Vohra started their pitch and said, "Naturik, India's tastiest and healthiest desi breakfast brand. In Naturik we serve tasty Cheela, Masala Millets Kichdi, and Sprouts. Consumers like our products because it appeal to their natural Indian taste buds. Naturik's products don't have sugar, maida, palm oil or preservatives. By this, we are setting new standards of wholesome and tasty food. So, healthy and tasty food in just 3 minutes. We have already sold more than 2 lakh units. To tap into India's conscious eating, we are seeking Rs 50 lakh for 2 percent equity."

Isha Vohra of Naturik requested shark Aman Gupta to join her and make Cheela by himself in just 3 minutes to check the brand's claim. Aman Gupta made the Cheela and all the sharks in the panel were surprised.

Sahil Vohra then clarified that our aim is not to only serve tasty and healthy food but to also solve the time problem that people have in India.

Anupam Mittal and Vineeta both loved the sprouts.

On healthy content in Cheela, Isha Vohra clarified, "In households, people cook Cheela from Besan that is carb dense. But to add protein and high fiber to it we have used pulses (daal) and some hidden ingredients due to which you will undergo bloating. You will not feel heavy."

Anupam Mittal then tried to grill Sahil Vohra on the protein amount in the product and asked if people start making cheela they will also get the same protein content then how is it is differentiator. To this, Sahil Vohra said, "No, they will not get same the protein content. In Dosa, if you cook it has 1.5gm protein. In cheela made of pulses, you will get 16 to 18gm of protein but for that, you will have to prepare it for 10 to 12 hours."

How is Sahil Vohra and Isha Chadha Vohra's business unique?

Aman Gupta then counter-questioned that with preservative products of other companies have a shelf life of 3 to 6 months. So, how without preservatives their products have one-year shelf life?

Sahil answered., "The product you are holding is innovative. This is not even in the market (sprouts)."

Vineeta then asked, "How do you do it?"

Sahil clarified, "We use two technologies in this. Flour or pulses that are being sold in the market have 16-18% of moisture due to which products shell life is of 3 months. By dehydration, we reduce their moisture content to less than 2%. This naturally increases the shelf life of the product."

Aman Gupta then asked 'what you did do before Naturik?'

Sahil Vohra Bathinda

Sahul Vohra said, "Before starting Naturik, I worked in ITC as a National Sales Manager. I handled all India FMCG sales.  I have also worked in Britania as National Trade Marketing Manager. I have also worked for Walmart for 4 years when it was entering in India. I have been working in FMCG sector for 17 years."

"I was born and brought up in Bathinda. I was a school and class topper. I wanted to take Commerce and Business Studies but my mother objected. Then, I made a deal that I will try for IIT only. If I get in then it's fine or else I will do what I want. I will not do it Bathinda. I will go to Delhi. Then, I studied in DPS RK Puram in Class 11 and 12th."

Ultimately, Sahil and Isha made an all-shark deal and got Rs 4 crore for 22.22% equity i.e. at Rs 18 crore valuation.
