Kohli finally spoke about his communication with BCCI, one week after the BCCI
President Sourav Ganguly gave his statement over the matter. Ganguly said that
he had 'requested' Virat to not step down as T20s captain.
Virat Kohli
stated that he was not asked to leave the captaincy. Kohli announced his
decision regarding leaving his captaincy in T20 format before the 2021 T20
World Cup. Virat's captaincy was taken over by Rohit Sharma. He also took over
the captaincy in ODI format last week.
Kohli
in a press conference talked about his communication with BCCI and said, "I
shared my opinion with them and I was not asked to not leave the captaincy. Instead, it was considered a progressive step for the team."
He further
said that His communication was very clear. If the selectors and board members
feel that he shouldn't continue as captain, then the decision will be in their
hands."
After Kohli's
clarification, fans are criticizing Sourav Ganguly for lying to them. Twitter
is fully loaded with tweets condemning Sourav Ganguly. Fans asked him to resign
from BCCI.

Regarding
his ODI captaincy, Virat said that he doesn't know about this decision. He was informed
just 90 minutes before the selection meeting. He was told that he will not be
the ODI captain, there was no prior communication about the matter.
