BJP Lok Sabha MP Pragya Thakur was in the headlines for her poor health. Earlier, in March 2021, she had also complained about breathing problems following which she was airlifted from Bhopal to Mumbai for treatment.
She has cited these health issues as one of the reasons to be excused from the court hearing in connection to the Malegoan bombing case.
However, now the videos of Pragya Thakur indulging in physical activities have been going viral, attracting criticism by the opposition. In a recent viral video, the politician was seen dancing at a twin wedding she helped organize.
Reportedly, BJP MP had organized wedding of two young women from poor families in her Bhopal residence. The 51-year-old politician could be seen celebrating, dancing and asking people to join in, in the video.
The father of one of the brides, a daily wage worker, expressed gratitude to the Bhopal MP since he did not have money to arrange his daughter's wedding. “I feel like I have been offered a second chance at life. I am very poor and did not have enough money to marry off my daughters. I pray to the goddess for her (Pragya Thakur’s) long life. I am very happy and grateful,” he said.

However, the viral dancing video of BJP MP has provoked the sarcasm of congress leader Narendra Saluja. Commenting on MP’s health Saluja tweeted, “Whenever we see Bhopal MP, sister Pragya Thakur playing Basketball, dancing happily make us happy too...?”
Earlier, Narendra Saluja had shared a video of Pragya Thakur trying hands at basketball. He had written, “We had just seen Bhopal MP Sadhvi Pragya Thakur on a wheelchair, but today we feel happy to see her trying hands at basketball. So far, we only knew that she couldn’t walk or even stand due to injury...? May god always keeps her healthy.”
Pragya Thakur has remained in headlines for her controversial comments. She was accused in the 2008 Malegaon blasts and is presently out on bail. She had been imprisoned for nine years until being granted bail in 2017.
Over 6 people were killed and about 100 were injured after an explosive device attached to a motorbike exploded near a mosque in Malegaon.
