Since the trailer for Akshay Kumar's next film 'Bellbottom' was released on Tuesday, all social media users have been talking about is actress Lara Dutta's stunning transformation to play former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the film.
Bellbottom is a spy thriller set in 1984, and its action-packed trailer lives up to the hype, promising an epic adventure full of world-class action, retro swag, a foot-tapping background score, gigantic production values, and Akshay Kumar's best action character.While the trailer had blockbuster written all over it, Lara Dutta's portrayal of Indira Gandhi, 46, sparked fans' curiosity in the film and left netizens in awe of the former beauty queen, and rightfully so. Lara revealed during the trailer premiere that all it took was a call for her to be cast as Indira Gandhi. "In the film, I play Mrs. Indira Gandhi. That's me. There was a phone call and they said that Lara there is a film being made and that Indira Gandhi's character was being cast and we are casting you for Indira Gandhi's role. Before I ever heard the script, that was all it took.But, of course, portraying someone who is such an iconic figure as her comes with a lot of responsibility."
"As you are all aware, the film is about a hijacking that occurred during her tenure. Given the dramatic circumstances that were occurring, she was someone who was unusually calm and unaffected by drama.
As a result, it was crucial to depict her in that light. I had a fantastic experience. It was the result of a lot of homework and research. "However, it was a once-in-a-lifetime chance for which I am grateful," she continued.
