England's allrounder Ben Stokes on Thursday pulled out of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). MS Dhoni-led franchise Chennai Super Kings issued a statement over Ben Stokes not playing IPL 2024 and stated that the English cricketer has taken this decision to manage his workload. Furthermore, CSK explained why Ben Stokes pulled out of IPL 2024 which may turn out to be pivotal before the T20 World Cup 2024.
CSK in its statement said that the Chennai Super Kings management is supportive of Ben in his decision to manage his workload with England playing a 5-Test series in India before the IPL and then the T20 World Cup in June 2024. Ben Stokes, 32, became a part of the Super Kings ahead of the successful IPL 2023. He recently participated in the ODI World Cup 2023, which he came out of retirement for.
It is pertinent to mention here that CSK is yet to announce Ben Stokes's replacement. Stokes was bought by the five-time champions for a hefty fee of $1.98 million (Rs 16.25 crore). Talking about Ben Stokes' injury, he will undergo surgery on a troublesome knee. Stokes, 32, has not been bowling regularly because of the injury but expects to return in time for the five-test tour of India, which begins on Jan. 25.
