As per the information acquired from the sources, 72 cases are in Hoshiarpur, 33 in Bathinda, 25 in Gurdaspur, 19 in Ludhiana, 4 in Fatehgarh Sahib, 21 in Moga, 16 in Jalandhar, 1 in Mohali, 3 each in Mansa and Muktsar, 4 in Sangrur, 2 in Barnala, 5 each in Ropar and Nawanshahr.
Out of these, 228 patients are among returnees from Sikh shrine--Hazur Sahib, Nanded in Maharashtra. Apart from these, 6 officials of health authorities have also fallen prey to the contagious disease, 33 others are also recognized.
So far, Punjab has registered 981 positive cases of the novel coronavirus.

With the increasing number of cases in the state, challenges have also increased for the Cabinet to contain the spread of the virus. The Punjab government has now decided that if any person is hailing from another state he will be tested again for the disease even though his test had already been conducted.
Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has directed the State Health Department to conduct 6000 RT-PCR tests daily till May 15. CM has further asked the Vice-chancellor of Baba Farid University to analyse the possible outcomes of setting up the corona testing facility in Jalandhar.
