In what can be called taking the politics and hate for 'RSS-BJP' too far, newly elected Sangrur MP Simranjit Singh Mann, who is also the chief of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), called freedom fighter and 'Shaheed E Azam' Bhagat Singh a 'terrorist'. Bhagat Singh, who gave the supreme sacrifice in the freedom struggle of India was called a 'terrorist' by the SAD (Amritsar) Chief.
Simranjit Singh Mann who often hits headlines for his pro-Khalistan love on Friday said, "Bhagat Singh had killed a young, English naval officer, he had killed an Amritdhari Sikh constable, Channan Singh. He hurled a bomb at the National Assembly at the time. Now you tell me whether Bhagat Singh was a terrorist or not."
"He might be everything, but he was a terrorist. If you kill innocents, you are a terrorist, not a hero," added Simranjit Singh Mann. While being questioned on Khalistani militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, he started slamming the RSS and the BJP. "Everyone has taken the sides of the BJP and the RSS. Every one of them terms Bhagat Singh as a hero and also to Nathuram Godse," added Mann.
It is pertinent to mention here that Simranjit Singh Mann recently won the bypoll from Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann's home turf Sangrur. Following his victory, Mann had attributed his victory to Khalistani militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and said he would raise the issues of "Indian Army's atrocities in Kashmir" in parliament.
AAP, and SAD oppose Simranjit Singh Mann's remark on Bhagat Singh
After Mann sparked a row over his Bhagat Singh terrorist remark, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha took to his Twitter handle and slammed him. Chadha wrote, "Shameful that some call him a terrorist. Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh is a hero, a patriot, a revolutionary and a true son of the soil."
Furthermore, Shiromani Akali Dal's Harsimrat Kaur Badal also slammed Mann and wrote, "Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh was and will always be the icon of country's freedom struggle. By calling him a terrorist, S.Simranjit Singh Maan has disrespected the supreme sacrifice of our national hero. He should apologize for his ridiculous remarks which have hurt the public sentiment."
