Food and Drug Administration Chief Rolando Enrique Domingo said that India's Bharat Biotech has submitted an application for the emergency use approval of its vaccine in Philippines.
Covaxin is an indigenous vaccine and one of the two vaccines that was given approval for restrictive use in emergency situations in India. Covaxin is developed by Bharat Biotech who earlier also has around basket of 15 vaccines in the market. It has been developed in collaboration with National Institute of Virology (NIV) and Indian Council Medical Research (ICMR).
Bharat Biotech is the fourth vaccine maker to apply for emergency use approval in Philippines.
