The
legendary playback singer who always had an upper hand on
ghazals and graced the Indian film industry with his melodious voice has left his millions of admirers, family, and friends all alone. One of his greatest hits ‘Kabhi Kisiko Muqammal Jahan Nahi
Milta’, might turn out to be wrong in his case itself. Millions of mourning hearts
are giving this evidence to you dear ‘BHUPI’.
Veteran
singer cum songwriter Bhupinder Singh died yesterday due to cardiac arrest in
Mumbai. He was 82 and during this period he has left enough reasons in front of
us why he will be remembered for long? Bhupi was born in Amritsar in the year
1940, to a trained vocalist and his teacher in the early stages of life, Natha
Singh. There was a point in Bhupinder’s career he was in complete hate with his
father’s musical instruments but everything got settled over the due passage of
time.
Bhupinder
Singh at the very onset of his career performed at The ‘All India Radio’ and
was also associated with ‘Delhi Doordarshan Centre’. In the year 1964, music
director Madan Mohan heard him over AIR and invited him to Bombay. There he
got his first breakthrough with ‘Hoke Majboor Mujhe Usne Bulaya Hoga’ with
legendary Mohammad Rafi. Though he didn’t get too much recognition at the rate at
which this song got hit, his career remained quite low in the early phase of his
life, he only signed for low-budget films.
But
tides and fortune for Bhupi turned when he joined R.D.Burman’s orchestra and
played guitar in multiple tracks for him, including ‘Dum Maaro Dum’.
Bhupinder Singh didn’t get overnight success, he
went through several sleepless nights his continuous resilience and struggle have
made him one the favorites of all time. On this emotional occasion let us
revisit his musical journey with 5 of his most iconic pieces.

of the Industry Lata and Bhupi collaborated again. It was for the movie Kinara,
starring Jeetendra and Hema Malini in the year 1977. Composed by R. D. Burman

Zarina Wahab in the lead role was released in 1977. The song was directed by
Jaidev, with Bhupi giving the final touch to it.
Apart from his Bollywood career,
he was too proficient in playing violin and guitar. Bhupinder married his love
of life Bangladeshi singer Mithali Mukherjee, In the later part of their life,
the couple collaborated in several duets. Bhupinder is survived by his wife and
their son Nihal Singh, who is also a singer.
His quintessential and melodic
voice has ruled over the hearts of millions, this moment is too tough for his
loved ones and family. Our thoughts with them, may his melodic soul find the
most pious place in the court of the lord.
