Bihar cabinet approves BJP’s poll promise, free Covid vaccine for all in state

The Bihar cabinet on Tuesday approved two major proposals -- first to provide free covid-19 vaccination to people of the state and second to create 20 lakh job opportunities for youth.

The Nitish Kumar government in Bihar on Tuesday has fulfilled a key promise made by the ruling party Janata Dal-United and its ally BJP during the election of approving a proposal of providing free coronavirus vaccine to all the people in the state.  

The decision was taken at the first meeting of the cabinet since the allocation of ministerial roles last month.

Bihar cabinet has also cleared a scheme for creating 20 lakh private and government jobs for youth in the state which were ensured by the National Democratic Alliance to counter Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav's government jobs promise. However, the government has not cleared on how the promised jobs will be generated. 

The government also gave green signal to several projects relating to women empowerment -  granting of  ₹ 50,000 for unmarried graduate women, those who have completed school to get ₹ 25,000 and a scheme will be launched which will give women a chance to become entrepreneurs by taking interest-free loans up to ₹ 5 Lakh.

The cabinet has approved the implementation of "Saat Nishchay Part-2", the second part of the seven resolves, the Chief Minister announced before the Bihar assembly election to highlight his vision for the state. 

The opposition had criticised the BJP for announcing free a vaccine for only the poll-bound state.
