The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered CBI probe into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and asked Mumbai Police to hand over all evidence collected so far in the case to CBI.
Justice Hrishikesh Roy said the CBI will be competent to probe not only Patna FIR but any other FIR in connection with the case.
The top court noted that the Mumbai Police has registered only an accidental death report in connection with Rajput's death, therefore it has limited investigation powers, whereas the case registered by Bihar Police is a full-fledged FIR which has been already referred to CBI.
The top court ensured that there was no confusion about CBI being sole authority to investigate the mystery behind Rajput's death and no other state police could interfere with it. The apex court order came on a plea by Rhea Chakraborty seeking transfer of FIR registered in Patna to Mumbai.
After the apex body supported Bihar Government and Patna Police, Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey was among the first to give his response. Interacting to media Pandey said that he is very happy as it is a victory of justice over injustice. Supreme Court order has strengthened trust people have in the Court and has assured the nation that justice will be delivered. Pandey also said that this is a matter of pride for the whole country who sought justice for Sushant.

Pandey also said that they did not get any co-operation from the Mumbai Police and their IPS Officer was forcibly quarantined. He also said that the behaviour of Mumbai Police was totally illegal, unethical and unprofessional.
On being asked about Rhea Chakraborty commenting on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Gupteshwar Pandey said that the actress has no power or guts (Aukaat) to comment anything on him.
Patna Police took its step as per the constitution of India and were immensely supported by Nitish Kumar.
