Patna: Bihar government with an objective to encourage management of stubbles and their use as fertilizer instead of burning them in agriculture fields is giving 80 percent subsidy on purchase of machineries to meet the objective.
Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi also holding the portfolio of environment, forest and climate change department in a short notice question of BJP MLA Anil Singh said in the state assembly that reports of stubble burning in agriculture fields after harvesting of paddy and wheat crops had been received from Nawada, Aurangabad and Gaya districts.
Mr. Modi said that district agriculture officers, block agriculture officers, agriculture consultants and agriculture coordinators of the districts concerned had been directed to create awareness among farmers on ill effects of stubble burning in agriculture fields on crop productivity and environment.
