Centenarian, marathon runner, Fauja Singh is soon going to have a biopic based on his biography book 'Turbaned Tornado' written by Chandigarh based author Khushwant Singh.
Aleya Motion Magic, ThinkInk Picturez, and Blue Lotus Creative on Thursday announced to adopt his biography into a biopic. 'Fauja' will be the title of the movie that will be director by Omung Kumar B.
The three film makers, namely Omung Kumar B., Raaj Shaandilyaa, and Kunal Shivdasani announced that the biopic will be based on a book 'Turbaned Tornado' published by Rupa publications and it will be a real life story of 109 year old Fauja Singh, more prominently known as 'Sikh Superman.'
Fauja Singh shattered many world records as a marathon runner. With other movies like Sarabjit and Mary Kom to his credit, Omung Kumar B, director and producer said, "The story of Fauja Singh depicts the insurmountable odds stacked against him and what sheer power of will can make of someone who is challenged medically, by age and by society."
Fauja Singh's biography was released in July 2011 in the House of Lords, UK. Trubaned Tornado will be the second book of Khushwant Singh that will be made into a movie.
Last year, Guneet Monga, famed producer of films like 'Lunch Box' and 'Gangs of Wasseypur', had announced adaptation of Khushwant Singh's novel 'Maharaja in Denims' for a movie.
Currently serving as the State Information Commissioner,
Khushwant Singh has also written an authorized biography of CM Amarinder Singh.
Author Khushwant Singh told IANS, "I'm humbled and honoured as this is my
second book that is being adapted for a movie."
"Fauja Singh's incredible story has to be brought out before the world to
highlight the thinking, toil and determination of the man. I am absolutely
delighted to be associated with this project in the creative capacity," he
added.
