A shocking incident has been uncovered in the Thalambur area of Chennai, where 26-year-old Vetrimaran alias Pandi Maheswari, murdered his friend Nandhini on her birthday.

According to the reports, the suspect, who was initially the friend of the victim, underwent a sex change operation to marry her. However, the victim, Nandhini, declined the proposal, leading to the suspect pouring petrol on her and setting her on fire.

The victim and the suspect had studied together and were colleagues at a private IT firm in Chennai. The suspect, previously known as Pandi Maheswari, lured Nandhhini into a deadly trap under the guise of a birthday celebration.

The accused invited Nandhini for what was supposed to be a birthday surprise, but the evening turned into a nightmare for the victim. Local residents discovered Nandhini, still chained and burning, and rushed her to the hospital, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries.

The police swiftly apprehended the suspect, who now faces charges of murder and is in judicial custody.

"They were friends and were living together in Chennai. No indication yet of any sexual assault. Whether Vetrimaran had displayed violent tendencies earlier is not clear. An investigation is on," said Amalraj, the Police Commissioner of Tambaram.

The suspect, who had undergone a sex change operation, expressed no remorse for his actions during interrogation. He revealed that he was upset that Nandhini had refused to have a relationship with him and had become close to her office colleague, which led to his decision to kill her.

The police believe that Vetrimaran's suspicion that Nandhini had developed an interest in someone else was the motive behind this horrific act.
